Disney Kids Easter Preschool Playdate

We were thrilled to be chosen for another fun Disney Kids Preschool Playdate kit thanks to Walt Disney World Resort and MomSelect. We were sent free products in exchange to host a party and give our opinions. This year, we had a Disney Kids Easter Preschool Playdate.

With the holiday right in the time frame, we easily put together a fun meal, crafts and activities for our family. I want to share with you some of the fun we had. Maybe you can spark some of your own ideas for a Disney Kids Preschool Playdate, anytime of the year!

Let’s Talk Food – Be Our Guest

Who doesn’t love good food at a party? Better yet? Disney food. I love cooking some of our favorites from around the park. Kitchen Magic with Mickey by Pam Brandon and the Disney Chefs is one of my favorite books for finding Disney inspired recipes. I also have the various Cooking with Mickey by Pam Brandon books too.

For our party (and Easter dinner), we made Coconut Rice from Boma, Cream Cheese Mashed Potatoes from Le Celleir and Green Beans from Ohana. These recipes from the Disney Parks were a perfect treat to our meal. The Green Beans from Ohana were so good with the stir-fry. I highly recommend making those at home.

In addition to the Disney Parks recipes, I also made “Minnie’s Garden” and Mickey Inspired Cupcakes. The fruit for the “garden” was simple by using a Mickey Mouse shaped cookie cutter and simply cutting into water melon. I added the Popsicle sticks on the end by carefully inserting them into the bottom of the Mickey Mouse shape. I then chopped up some honeydew melon to spread under the Popsicle sticks for that “greenery” look and ta-da! Minnie’s Garden.

The Decor – Just a Little Bit of Pixie Dust

I’ll admit, I sat down and watched the Easter special of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse with our kids before thinking up ideas for the decor of our Disney Kids Easter Preschool Playdate. I wanted to mesh the fun of the holiday and Mickey and pals together. Thanks to a trip to the store and the amazing goodies from iLoveToCreate, Glad and Banfield Pet Hospital, we were able to come up with some fun things to decorate our home.

One of my favorite things was our Disney Inspired Easter Wreath. This was very simple to put together, but received a lot of compliments. A fun way to greet guests at the door.

We also created these fun DIY Minnie Mouse and Daisy Duck Inspired Easter Baskets. They served well as decor AND buckets for our Mickey themed egg hunt we had later in the day. Thank goodness for good weather in Washington on Easter this year! That’s a first.

Crafts, Fun and More – Adventure is Out There

I think the activities we had were the biggest hit among the kids. They loved our chalk drawing photo opps, “Second Star to the Right” craft, Mickey themed egg hunt, the Sofia the First and Jake and the Neverland Pirates hats that were provided and coloring fun.

For the “Second Star to the Right”, we used the items from iLoveToCreate. We were given paper lunch bags, craft glue and glitter glue. This was so easy to create. I’ll layout the instructions below.

“Second Star to the Right” Craft

What You Need:

  • 10 Paper Lunch Bags
  • Crafting Glue
  • Glitter Glue
  • 2 Paperclips

Instructions:

  1. Turn the side of the bag with no flap facing up. The flap side should be facing down.
  2. Using your craft glue, spread the glue in an upside down “T” shape from the bottom to the top.
  3. Place another bag with the flap side facing down onto the glue of the first bag.
  4. Ensure that the bags are evenly matched together and press down to adhere the glue to the bag.
  5. Do this for the rest of the bags, stacking each the same way.
  6. Once the bags are dried together, take your scissors and cut the top of all of the bags in a pointed triangle shape.
  7. Grab the ends of the pointed triangle topped bags and pull them around to center. You should be seeing a star shape from this.
  8. Take two paperclips and use them to hold each end together of the star.
  9. Let your kids have fun adding glitter glue to the star and let dry.
  10. Hang to display and have fun!

Mickey Themed Egg Hunt

For our Mickey themed egg hunt, we simply snagged some fun plastic eggs and small pom-poms to create the Mickey eggs. This was easy to do by using a hot glue gun to glue the pom-poms to each side of the top of the egg for the “Mickey ears”.

The kids just loved this. We hid clues in each egg to find their special Disney Junior treat bags, provided by Walt Disney World Resort and MomSelect.

We’ll Never Grow Up

I would like to think our Disney Kids Easter Preschool Playdate was a success. Everyone got to spend time together, we watched the “World of Color” show from Disneyland on the “big screen” and we smiled until our cheeks hurt. Even those who couldn’t make it received some goody bags that were sent home to them. I received a couple of messages a few days later thanking us for the extra pixie dust. The thanks is really to Walt Disney World Resort and MomSelect, for proving us with all of these amazing things to make memories with.

We look forward to these parties and playdates as a way to talk about the fun of Disney and how it brings us all together. I hope we’ve inspired some magic in you too; with ideas to create your own Disney Kids Easter Preschool Playdate. All it takes is a little faith, trust and pixie dust to create your own. Have fun!
