Santa Hat Cookies for Christmas

If you have a bag of sugar cookie mix, these Santa Hat cookies are very easy. It doesn’t take much-decorating skills to pass off these cute cookies.

They will be a favorite in your home in no time.

Trust me. I’m not a cookie decorating expert myself.

Grab the icing and sanding sugar, and let’s make Santa Hat cookies!

Easy Santa Hat Christmas Cookies Recipe

Ingredients

  • bag of sugar cookie mix
  • melted unsalted butter
  • large egg
  • flour
  • pure vanilla
  • red cookie icing
  • sanding sugar (your choice of color)
  • mini marshmallows

How to Make Santa Hat Cookies

Mix sugar cookie mix, melted butter, egg, flour, and pure vanilla into a large mixing bowl. Stir together until dough forms.

Cover the bowl and chill for 1-hour in the refrigerator.

This step is often skipped but so important to ensure you can easily roll out the dough to cut out the shape.

Once chilled, roll out dough to about 3/4 in. thickness.

Heat oven to 350° while cutting out the triangle shapes for the Santa Hat Cookies.

Using a butter knife, cut out about 2 in. triangles out of dough.

On a parchment paper-covered baking sheet bake triangle shapes (until golden brown) for about 10 minutes. Let cookies cool on a cooling rack.

Completely cool before decorating.

Using a butter knife, spread red icing over each cookie.

Sprinkle sanding sugar on the bottom of the triangle. Try and make about a 1-inch line for the brim.

Using a small amount of icing, attach a mini marshmallow to the top of the triangle. Let icing settle and enjoy!
