Do you have a furry friend that you want to gift something to this Christmas? This Christmas Gift Idea for Dogs is a cute Homemade Dog Ornament that can be given as a Christmas gift for dog lovers for their favorite pets.
This Christmas gift for your dog can be reused over and over again throughout the years. Just replace the contents with their new favorite treats or a new collar for the coming year.
If you have dog lovers in your family or circle of friends, this is a fun way to include the four-legged family members too! Dog owners will love this gift for their pet.
What plastic ornament size will fit a small gift?
When I was looking for ways to put this gift together, I could not find much information about what size ornament a small gift will fit into.
I found that a 4.75-inch ornament was a good size to fit a tennis ball, treats, and leash for this gift idea.
What Can You Gift A Dog in this Ornament?
- New Leash
- New Collar
- Plush Toy
- Rope Toy
- Tennis Ball

How to Make a Homemade Dog Ornament Gift
Begin by measuring around the plastic ornament with ribbon. Run the ribbon all the way around the ornament just above the lip where it connects with the other side.
Hot glue the ribbon down. Be sure to not glue where the ornament shuts. I recommend gluing the ribbon to the side of the ornament without a lip so it closes easier to the other side.
Use more of the ribbon to create a bow to glue on top of the ornament. Let everything dry.
Using a permanent marker, write the dog’s name on a treat and let dry. Press the treat onto the top of the bow by securing it with hot glue. Let dry.
Embellish the ribbon with additional decorations, bows, buttons, etc. Add gifts such as treats, a tennis ball, a plush toy, a chew toy, or a new leash. Close up and place under the tree.
Note to not let the dog eat the treat that has the permanent marker on it.
Dogs love receiving great gifts this time of year and now you can give them something extra special.
