Packing up everyone for the local park this summer can sometimes feel like a lot of work. Fun summer activities for kids at home don’t have to be expensive or hard to plan for.
Thanks to Walmart sponsoring this post, I have compiled some fun activities for kids and families this summer that are perfect for outdoor barbecues, parties, or enjoying the sun!
Fun Summer Activities for Kids at Home
As I mentioned above, I partnered with Walmart to find some of the best summer activities for families that can be set up right at home.
If you have a backyard (no matter what size) you can set up these toys and games to have a blast.
Keeping kids entertained this summer is easy.
Outdoor Family Game Ideas
Outdoor games don’t have to be hard to set up anymore. Remember those summers where Badminton took forever to put up? The EastPoint Sports Easy Setup Badminton Net Set literally takes a few minutes to set up and can be done by one person. Gone are the days of unrolling a net and having two people hold it up while another pound in the stakes.
EastPoint Sports also has a Light-Up Bean Bag Toss Set that our family has been enjoying. The target boards and bean bags light up with battery installation for a fun night activity too. Each board easily folds up with all of the bean bags stored inside. It makes it simple to put away for another day.
Walmart also has a great selection of frisbees, skip-a-long toys, and other outdoor games that you can add to your collection.
Best of all, when you walk into most Walmart locations, their summer toys and activities tend to be right up front near the registers. This makes it easy to find what you’re looking for and quickly checkout.
Plus, be sure to check the Sporting Goods section.
That is where you will find the Badminton sets, horseshoe toss games, basketballs, and more. The Gardening and Outdoor section also offers things like bicycles that might be great for an upgrade this season if your child has outgrown theirs.
Create Your Own Spray Park
Who doesn’t love going to the spray park? However, it can sometimes get overly crowded, and packing everything to leave can be a lot of work. Create your own “spray park” at home with some of these ideas.
A hot summer day can be cooled down with one of the fun sprinklers that Walmart offers. The Banzai Wigglin’ Waterpillar Backyard Outdoor Kids Fun Water Sprinkler runs for just over $10 at Walmart and is one of the most popular items that I have seen flying off the shelves.
Literally, I was at Walmart for over 3-hours researching for this post and watched this little guy go out the door with just about everyone who walked the pool aisle.
I noticed that a couple of times the attached foam ends came off of the sprayers but they easily attached back on. Plus, my kids didn’t seem to mind at all. For just over $10, he’s brought a lot of fun to our backyard.
The Toy Story 4 Beachball Sprinkler is another fun addition.
This will keep kids busy for hours as water sprays out of the beach ball with recognizable and favorite characters. Pair it with an H2OGO! 18′ Double Lane Water Slide and you’re ready to really rock a good time.
Add more water fun to the backyard by having a bucket full of soakers. The Zuru X-Shot Fast Fill Blaster is really cool because the end opens up so that you can dunk it into a water bucket or use a hose to quickly fill it up.
We bought a few of these for each family member and have been making memories with serious water fight fun. Add in a Bunch O Balloons by Zuru and let water balloons be an added bonus.
We have also been enjoying the Play Day 10′ Deluxe Inflatable Family Pool. I have heard nothing but good things from others about this pool and that it lasts.
The 8-inch is also available as well and according to a Walmart associate that I spoke with in-store, the difference between the two is that the 8-inch is deeper. Depending on what you are looking for, depth, or length will make the difference in your purchase.
Walmart also carries plenty of types of sunscreens. Don’t forget to have that on hand when enjoying those sunny days.
Be Patio Ready
Having everyone over for the summer means being patio ready. Walmart provides different patio furniture and decor to update this year.
Also, I recommend grabbing some TIKI Brand Torches or tabletop torches with citronella fuel to keep the mosquitoes away. They make for great ambiance and comfort.
Something fun for kids on the back deck might be a bubble machine. The Funrise Toys – Gazillion Tornado Bubble Machine is under $15 and loads of fun. It literally pumps out 4,500 bubbles per minute.
I noticed that it does leak sometimes so it is best to place it somewhere that will damage any surface. Despite that, our kids have had a blast playing in the bubbles. Great for parties and outdoor play.
Seating is also important and why not have a place for the kids to enjoy? The Your Zone Folding Kid’s Activity Table with Two Benches is perfect!
It folds and even has these covers over those pegs you push in on tables to open and close the legs. You know the ones I’m talking about? The ones that always punch the fingers?
Yes, someone finally invented something that prevents that!
My kids have painted on this table and it has always been easy to clean up. A few quick sprays and a wet towel to wipe it down and it is clean. Plus, it is easy to fold up and put away if you need more space.
For under $50, this is such a great place for kids to enjoy meals, paint, and play. They feel special in their own space too.
All of these items will make for a great summer with your kids, friends, and family.
They are fun for any activities at home as well as having people over. Best of all, these items are withstanding a lot of the back and forth weather that we tend to see here in Washington.
Another “thank you” to Walmart for showing us around the store and giving us tips on how to set up our summer activities for kids at home. Be sure to watch the video below to see more of what you can find at Walmart this summer!
