Who doesn’t love shopping at Target? Okay, I’m sure there are people out there, but for the other 99.9% of us I have some great Money Saving Secrets at Target. I’m excited to share these because shopping at Target can be addicting, but expensive if you let yourself get sucked in. Let’s walk out with great deals and no guilt!
Money Saving Secrets at Target
Apply for the Target Debit Red Card
Money saving secrets at Target starts with how you pay for your purchase. This card is connected directly to your checking account and will work just like a debit card. I use it every shopping trip to Target and receive 5% off my order. PLUS, if I use it online, FREE shipping. That’s a perk in itself! I know some might be a little shaky about getting the Target Debit Red Card after the “big breach” a year or so back, but I’ve personally never had issue. Plus, Target took great measures to ensure to notify, fix and ensure the the problem doesn’t hopefully happen again. I usually see my transaction hit my bank account about a day or two after shopping at Target. No issues, no problems and an easy way to save money while shopping there anyway.
Bring Your Own Reusable Bags
These cloth bags are money makers. For every bag you bring along with you and use, you get $.05 off your order. This may have changed with some of the new laws on plastic bags. Make sure you double check with your cashier. Totally worth throwing a few in your purse or car before heading out. Every cent counts!
Know The Markdowns
These will sometimes vary from store to store, but know the markdown schedule of your local Target. You can ask any associate on the floor what your local store markdown schedule is, and more than likely they will tell you. Markdowns happen every 2 weeks, expect on holiday items. Holiday items will be marked down faster; usually within days of each other.
Here is the General Target Markdown Schedule!
Check Clearance Tags
This is where you can really save some money, if you have the patience for it. Be sure to check clearance tags at Target on marked down items. If the clearance tag ends in a $.06 or a $.08, the item will more likely be marked down again. If it ends in a $.04, that is as far as it will go. For example, I purchased AXE deodorant for my husband on clearance. The “now” price was listed at $1.94 at 50% off. At 15% it was $3.36. I could bet at 15% it would discount again. At 50% and at $1.94, I could be nearly sure that it wouldn’t drop again.
Speaking of the percentages, be sure to check the top right hand side of the clearance tags. Target normally drops 15%/30%/50%/70%. You will see this numbers in fine print at the top right hand corner. It gives a good idea of where the item is currently marked down at and if it might go down again.
