Are you looking for a fun Easter or spring-themed paper plate craft for kids? Try this Paper Plate Sheep Craft. It is super easy to make and the kids love the outcome.
Easter and spring are fast approaching and crafts that fit this time of year are more than welcome in our house. We love to enjoy the time outdoors in the new sunshine but often the rainy days can get boring. Celebrating new life by creating crafts that sing about springtime makes it a little brighter.
My kids enjoyed gluing cotton balls and googly eyes on their paper plate sheep. They ended up using these as puppets to create their own springtime storyline. Who knew that paper plates could create hours of fun?
What you need to make a paper plate sheep:
- cotton balls
- paper plates
- googly eyes
- glue
- construction paper
How to make this sheep with cotton balls craft:
Being by gluing enough cotton balls to cover the inside of a paper plate. I personally like to spray some adhesive glue and then let the kids put the cotton balls in place. This makes for less mess.
Cut out black construction paper (or any color of sheep that your child would like) and make “ear” shapes and round face shape. Glue the ears to the top of the plate and the face shape just under that.
Cut about one inch in width and five-inch in long strips of black construction paper and accordion fold. Glue each to the bottom of the paper plate. Glue on googly eyes to the face shape and let everything dry.
From there, it is all up to your child’s imagination. Use these to decorate a bulletin board for school or hang up on a window. They can even use them as puppets as I mentioned earlier.
This craft is inexpensive and easy to make. A great way to celebrate a new life in the spring.
