What you need to make strawberry shortbread bars:
- 1 1/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp milk
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 large egg slightly beaten
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 12 oz strawberry preserves
How to make strawberry shortbread bars:
Heat oven to 350 F. Grease a 9×13 baking dish well.
Sift flour and baking powder in a medium mixing bowl. Add egg and milk to combine. The mixture should crumble.
Press the mixture to the bottom of the prepared baking dish with a fork or with hands to about 1/2 inch thick. Spread the strawberry preserves over the top to about 1/4 inch of the border.
Crumble the rest of the mixture over the top. Bake for about 45-minutes or until golden brown on the top. Cool before cutting and serving.
