Packing Tips When Traveling Alone

Are you planning on traveling alone soon or with friends? I have traveled solo several times in my life and I want to share with you some of my packing tips when traveling alone. This is where you start with solo travel tips, after all.

Packing Tips for Traveling Alone

Traveling solo is a completely different ballgame from traveling with family. When I travel alone, I want to ensure that my suitcase is well packed and easy to navigate through when I arrive at my destination.

A Few Packing Tips When Traveling Alone

Packing cubes, take them or leave them. I have asked a lot of my friends who travel a lot and some swear by packing cubes others believe they are a waste of space.

I think they are great for traveling alone. I don’t think I would use them much when packing for my entire family but I like how they keep my suitcase organized while traveling.

Find packing cubes here:

Get some of your travel sized items for free. I tend to shop for my makeup at places like Sephora. I recently purchased some of my makeup for one of my upcoming trips and I asked the associate if they had any hairspray and/or perfume samples.

She gladly gave me hairspray and perfume samples for my trip. This way I don’t have to pack my full-size items and within TSA regulations.

When you’re traveling alone, you don’t need to purchase a lot of travel size items so why pay a lot for them if you can snag a few free items with another purchase.

Keep necklaces from becoming tangled by using a jewelry organizer. If you don’t have an organizer you can simply grab some plastic straws to weave your necklaces through and clasp at the end. Lay them out in a cosmetic bag or freezer bag and they should remain untangled during travel.

Using a cord organizer for phone cords, external battery chargers, etc. is a great way to keep all of those smaller items in one place. A small tech organizer is very helpful.

This is one of my favorite travel packing tips when traveling alone because I can also throw this into a backpack when exploring my destination.

Don’t forget a shockproof case for your DSLR camera. My camera is my baby. I use it for some of my best travel photographs and I would hate to see it damaged. A good shockproof case around the body ensures that I am protecting my camera. The best part of solo travel for me is having the time to take photos.

These packing tips when traveling alone will save you time and energy by knowing exactly where everything is and protecting your personal items. It might even save a few dollars with the free samples. Add these ideas to your solo travel tips.
