Disney Springs opened the day prior to my departure from Disney Social Media Moms Celebrating in 2016. If you are like me, the thought of Disney Springs is apprehensive because you might be from the era of Downtown Disney in Orlando. I honestly had a debate with myself about making the stop here after it opened. After deciding to take a peek, here is why I’m glad I made a stop to Disney Springs. I believe that you will also thoroughly enjoy this addition to the Walt Disney World Resort.
Why I’m Glad I Made a Stop to Disney Springs
I was a big fan of Downtown Disney (now Disney Springs). I remember being fifteen and spending hours in the Virgin Records store when we were on vacation there as a family. Something I have enjoyed about Walt Disney World is that it offers this kind of place with a more “relaxed” feel from the Disney Parks.
The new Disney Springs opens up a new experience for the senses. While I enjoyed Downtown Disney, I am now nearly breathless by the detail of Disney Springs.
The sound of the springs and fountains calmly sweep a feeling of peace over you, the Mediterranean style music leaves you feeling the romance, and the bright and open shops are inviting. You can also let your taste buds dance with savory new tables and quick service dining.
What to Do at Disney Springs
The classic favorites such as EARL OF SANDWICH, Wolfgang Puck Express, and The BOATHOUSE are all still available. New to Disney Springs are selections like Morimoto Asia Street Food, STK Orlando, and D-Luxe Burger.
There also are new specialty food and beverage locations that are similar to what you see at Epcot Food and Wine or Flower and Garden festival. The new and old of Disney Springs and Downtown Disney blend perfectly into one another for an entirely new experience.
Grab a Cupcake at Sprinkles
If you’re looking for a sweet treat, be sure to stop into Sprinkles. You have not had a cupcake until you have had a Sprinkles cupcake. My personal favorite is the salted caramel. The sweet and salty flavor will grab your pallet.
It has a smoky flavor that you would not expect from most desserts. The buttercream frosting is just enough to layer your sweet tooth.
You may worry about getting what you pay for with a Sprinkles cupcake but I can assure you the size and quality of these decadent desserts make the price worth it.
If you don’t want to wait in line, be sure to check out their Cupcake ATM on the right side of the entrance. You heard me right; a Cupcake ATM! It does exactly what you are probably thinking. It literally will dispense cupcakes at the touch of a button.
Nightlife Still Going Strong
For those who loved Pleasure Island, the nightlife is still in full swing at Disney Springs. Favorites are still there like House of Blues® and Raglan Road. Splitsville Luxury Lanes™ offers great eats and fun for everyone by bringing bowling to a new level.
The Edison offers late-night hours and entertainment with a nightly dress code. There are several new places to enjoy mixed with some old favorites.
Take In the Beauty
The colors of the springs are breathtaking. I sat there for a bit and watched as the teals, greens, and blues swept over one another. It is a perfect dance of color as the springs weave their way through the walkways.
No matter what the day might bring in weather, I believe that the dancing springs will leave you feeling cool and refreshed.
With new shops, dining, and detail to Disney Springs, I am thrilled that I took a moment to wander. The Disney Parks are always enjoyable but taking some time to explore Disney Springs is like having another vacation.
You might find yourself needing peace while in Walt Disney World, so be sure to step inside Disney Springs. Be prepared to feel the life of the culture.
You will be able to connect with just about anything you love from food to entertainment. All of this wrapped together in the magic of Disney. Take in the breathtaking detail of the new Disney Springs. You’ll be glad you did.
