Why the Best Time to Visit Walt Disney World is in the Fall

The best time to visit Walt Disney World is during the fall. Hands down. I have personally experienced Walt Disney World at every season and time of the year and there is just something about the fall.

Halloween Decor at Walt Disney World

The fall in Orlando, Florida, isn’t exactly the picture-perfect PSL, flannel, boot loving images that you see. However, there is still cooler weather and decorations around Walt Disney World that will make any fall loving Instagrammer happy.

Honestly, I love Walt Disney World in the fall because of just about…well…everything!

Why the Best Time to Visit Walt Disney World is in the Fall

Cooler Weather

As I mentioned, cooler weather hits Florida around the fall. Locals know that the summer heat is not the best time to be skipping down Main Street U.S.A. Most locals won’t even return to Walt Disney World, after the summer, until around the end of September.

Hurricane season is just tying up in October and while yes, the rainy weather does tend to also show up during this time, the humidity and heat tend to nearly cut in half.

If you are okay with a 4 o’clock downpour to help clear out the parks, fall is certainly the best time to visit Walt Disney World for you. Grab a poncho and enjoy.

Fall Decor

Fall decor and Disney. *sigh* My wonderland! There is something about the parks all decorated for Halloween and the fall time. Walt Disney World in the fall means pumpkins, characters in adorable Halloween costumes, and plenty of photo opportunities as you Disneybound in your best Jack Skellington or Sanderson Sister.

Fall Treats

Oh yes, the treats are plenty this time of year. While some treats are exclusive to Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, foodies can still rejoice with fall favorites found around the Walt Disney World Resort. I personally adored the Not-So-Poison Apple Cupcake this 2018. The best time to visit Walt Disney World for ghoulish delights!

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Speaking of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, this is my favorite event at Walt Disney World. As a separately ticketed event, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party means fun for all ages with trick-or-treat stations, special character meets and greets, spooktacular shows, parades, fireworks and more. This is one event you do not want to miss while at Walt Disney World during Halloween.

Lighter Crowds

The theory isn’t always perfect but crowds tend to be lighter in the fall. Families are back to school, everyone is preparing for the holidays, and there tends to be less attendance at Walt Disney World.

This is a big reason why I personally think fall is the best time to visit Walt Disney World. It seems like once October 1st rolls around, wait times for rides tend to be far less.

These are just some of the reasons why I think the best time to visit Walt Disney World is in the fall. Epcot Food and Wine Festival is also continuing through fall dates which means great eats from around the world and the Eat to the Beat Concert Series where you can catch some of your old favorites in concert for the cost of admission into Epcot. Date night!

If you love fall decor, cooler evenings at Walt Disney World, and easier access to attractions, the fall is the perfect time to book your next Walt Disney World Resort vacation.
