Halloween at Great Wold Lodge is officially Howl-O-Ween! Is Halloween at Great Wolf Lodge worth the trip? We recently hosted by our Great Wolf Lodge in Grand Mound, WA during Howl-O-Ween and I want to share with you today all of the fun details. A big “thank you” to Great Wolf Lodge for having us for a weekend of family memory-making!
This year, the annual Howl-O-Ween celebration is taking place from Oct. 1 – 31, 2019. There are many activities that are included with your stay during this fun time of year. If your family is looking for a safe, fun, and kid-friendly way to celebrate Halloween, Great Wolf Lodge might be just the place.
Halloween at Great Wolf Lodge – A Howl-O-Ween Event
One of the benefits of staying at a Great Wolf Lodge is that there are several convenient locations nationwide in the United States. Great Wolf Lodge tends to be the getaway that is close to home. Halloween at Great Wolf Lodge just makes this time of year even more spooktacular. Howl-O-Ween happens at Great Wolf Lodge all October long.
Trick-or-Treat Trails, Monster Bash Dance Parties, other fun events around Great Wolf Lodge creates a fun environment for the kids during Halloween. When you check-in, be sure to take a look at the Activity Guides provided by the front desk for your location. You will be able to plan out your fun Howl-O-Ween festivities and fun during your stay.
From the minute you walk in, there are delightful decorations throughout the lodge. From spider webs to a giant balloon spider, Great Wolf Lodge Grand Mound was decked out for the occasion.
My daughter loved how decked out the Great Clock Tower was. She adores the Great Clock Tower Show and seeing some extra Howl-O-Ween decor made it even better for her.
There are quite a few events that happen nightly during Halloween at Great Wolf Lodge. Trick-or-Treat Trails, Spooktacular Story Time, and the Monster Bash Dance Party keep kids and families busy during the evening. We found that we were able to easily navigate through all of the events without needing to rush.
Trick-or-Treat Trails
Trick-or-Treat Trails are open from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm nightly. They begin at the Howl-O-Ween House (this transforms into a gingerbread house during the holidays) in the Grand Lobby. This is where kids can pick up their treat bags. There is also a Teal Pumpkin stop where kids can pick-up an allergy-friendly treat.
There aren’t many stops along the trails but there are enough to have an awesome time. I think there are just enough for the little ones to enjoy it and just enough candy that it is overwhelming. Each stop is decorated and themed. Plus, if you are staying for more than one evening, you can get in on the fun more than once.
Spooktacular Story Time and Meeting Characters
Spooktacular Story Time was a favorite with our kids. They had a chance to sit and listen to a fun Howl-O-Ween themed story and then meet Wiley right after. Oscar was also at the Howl-O-Ween House, dressed in his Wizard costume for Halloween. I love that at Great Wolf Lodge, my kids get to see the characters without large lines. We have never waited long and they are always ready for hugs.
Monster Bash Dance Party
The Monster Bash Dance Party was great. Guests get a chance to boogie in the Grand Lobby to some of the top favorites and Halloween themed music. Bubble wands are available for purchase and other fun treats like light-up cotton candy. Don’t forget to have the kids participate in the Costume Parade prior so that they can show off their tiaras, capes, helmets, wands, and whatever else they’ve decided to dress in for the occasion.
If you are lucky, there might even be a balloon drop on the night of your Monster Bash Dance Party. It is one of the largest balloon drops I have ever seen and judging by the anticipation from the crowd, it is a favorite moment for many.
Other Fun Activities
As I mentioned, there are other fun activities throughout the day during Halloween at Great Wolf Lodge. At Great Wolf Lodge Grand Mound, we could make DIY Candy Corn Cupcakes during the weekend at Bear Paw Sweets. There was also a Haunted Hustle Scavenger Hunt daily. There even was a Candy Corn Guessing Game at the front desk that my daughter got a kick out of.
Don’t forget to check out complementary programs such as Twisted & Tangled, where children follow the spinner and try to stay on their feet to get a treat and be declared the winner. Guests can also enjoy Boo Bingo where five in a row gets them a bingo and yelling “boo” is the winning lingo.
Be sure your kids get an adorable pair of Howl-O-Ween themed wolf ears at check-in. My daughter is still wearing hers around while howling. There are other cute wolf ears for purchase at the gift shop.
Again, don’t forget to check your Activity Guides for more ideas of free and fun things to do during your stay at Great Wolf Lodge. There is so much to do outside of the waterpark and other paid activities!
Is Halloween at Great Wolf Lodge worth the trip? Absolutely. We already love Great Wolf Lodge as our getaway that is closer to home so adding in one of our favorite holidays was the icing on the cake.
